About Video:-
the bore diameter of a borewell machine is 6 to 8 inches, but the diameter of the cutter head of a tunnel boring machine can be up to 20 inches.
a tunnel boring machine generates cracks in the rock by high pressure to break the stone and through crushing, fine cutting of the rock is done. this machine moves ahead completing the tunnel.
the length of tbm machine can be up to 100 meters and it has multiple trailing units. at the front is its cutter head which does the cutting of rock, after that powerful hydraulic grippers are installed behind it which exert a force of up to 20000 tons on the cutter head.
a cutting disc is fitted in the cutter head, on which a continuous supply of water is sent, which increases the life of the cutting disc and breaks the stones easily.
this machine has multiple training units in which there is a drilling rig on one unit and pressure pumps are available in the next unit. apart from this, compressor and tank are also available. complete electronics and its control mechanism is set on one unit from where the machine can be controlled.
as the machine moves forward, a track is formed behind it, on which technical equipment is brought with a trolley and supplied further into the machine.
